CALVIN CULVERWELL
wellbeing facilitator
Calvin has spent the last seven years developing the wellbeing initiative at Parachute. Over those years, he transformed it from a good idea to an essential service in an industry grappling with how best to care for their people. With masters’ degrees in ministry and social and community leadership, as well as a certificate in professional supervision, Calvin’s role combines pastoral care, industry advocacy, and professional oversight. He has collaborated on initiatives with key industry bodies such as the Music Manager’s Forum, Music Producer’s Guild of New Zealand, MusicHelps, NZ Music Commission and Recorded Music NZ. In 2021, he was involved in the inception of Soundcheck Aotearoa, a pioneering action group spearheading safety and inclusion for the NZ music community. In a former life, he played bass and drums for a bunch of pop-punk bands and if pressed will make a compelling case for the golden age of emo.
