NOISE REVIEW
With the challenge of getting out of the box and carrying a new song in your heart, and with the revelation that music is a universal language that God created, Noise Music Conference established its voice amongst those who attended the 2 ½ days of training.
Noise delegates heard that worship and justice go hand in hand, they heard that there’s no one like you who can bring your sound so we need to become innovators not copiers.
Outstanding speakers graced the stages of 6 different venues, providing valuable information to inspire and upskill audiences with topics like vocal technique, recording albums, building a tight rhythm section, media interviews, music in the digital age, branding, worship leading, songwriting and a whole host more.
Showcases wafted into the air from 9-11pm each night – acoustic in the beautiful St Mary’s church with artists like the stunning Juliagrace, Edwin Derricutt, Ruby Frost, Brian Platt and in the Basement, bands like Addison, Arms Reach and Scenic Drive reverberated out into the night.
Highlights included:
Paul Colmans’ 15 piece ukulele orchestra who performed 2 songs on the Saturday night, complete with roadies and actions. A truly unique performance to be heard in the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
The gospel choir, led by the incredible vocal diva, Bella Kalolo, brought Sister Act into the building. With a special rendition of a 4 song medley, Bella and the singers brought the house down.
And finally, the opening item - this included a stunning black and white video made by Mr Brian Platt, Ave Maria sung by the Boys choir from St Kentergens College, and the 16 year old pianist virtuoso Jason Bae who wowed the audience with his Mozart Turkish March which then flowed in the Parachute Band leading worship. A true musical feast covering the different genres of music.
Noise ended with a special ministry time, where delegates pinned up their prayers, their hopes and dreams to 3 crosses at the front of the stage. A beautiful atmosphere filled the Cathedral and the conference closed with the organ playing and people praying.
Our prayer for Noise is that the artist community in NZ will be strengthened and energised to take music to the world that so desperately needs God’s touch upon it. Noise was just the beginning…how we use the training we received, is up to us.
