Christchurch-hailing band Yumi Zouma have put out a music video for their upbeat 2016 track ‘Text From Sweden’.
This is the first video the band has self-directed, and the result is dripped in colour-drenched lighting, and 80s looking film overlays.
Yumi Zouma told Gorilla Vs Bear, “We wanted to do something different to showcase the darkness of our souls, but then we set off the fire alarms with the smoke machine when we couldn’t figure out how to turn it off, which was problematic as half the band are pretty bad at breathing already. We hope you enjoy 3 min 52 sec of us choking to near death.”
After signing to New York indie label Cascine, the band have built a solid reputation for themselves on the international touring circuit (despite having some lineup changes).
Their tunes have been picked up around the world by publications including NME, the Guardian, Pitchfork, CMJ, Gorilla vs Bear and Stereogum; and we’re a fan of their carefree synth-pop sound.
