U2 Team Up With Kendrick Lamar

Irish megastars U2 have released the latest track from their upcoming album, featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar delivering some spoken word.

‘Get Out Of Your Own Way’ starts off with the rockers performing true to form, with a huge stadium-worthy chorus and lightly jangling guitars. They’re not succumbing to any trends or fads here; just doing what U2 do best.

Lamar then appears at the end, with his own sardonic version of The Beatitudes, saying emphatically, “Blessed are the arrogant, for theirs is the kingdom of their own company. Blessed are the superstars, for in the magnificence of their light we understand better our own insignificance. Blessed are the filthy rich, for you can only truly own what you give away, like your pain...”

The song fades out, hinting that there may be a longer version on the album once it comes out. It’s not the first time the two artists have worked together; U2 appeared on Lamar’s latest album ‘DAMN’ on his song ‘XXX.’

U2’s next LP will be called ‘Songs Of Experience’, and it’s due out on December 1. Listen to ‘Get Out Of Your Own Way’ below:
