Gallantino member TAPZ has shared a new song called ‘Murder Murder’, all about the carnage left behind when relationships fail.
He recently explained to UTR, “I drew on my experiences of tainted, defeated love, channeling the hurt, anger and injustice of it in to the lyrics as I chant, ‘it’s just another murder’. I remember seeing my breath as I recorded the chorus at 6am, which went to paint the atmosphere of the cold synth driven murderous sound the song embraces”.
At just 22 years old, TAPZ is fast becoming one of the most exciting rappers to come out of the New Zealand scene. He signed a management deal with G.O.O.D. Music last year, which is also home to superstars like Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T, Desiigner, Travi$ Scott and 2 Chainz.
‘Murder Murder’ is a bass heavy track, and TAPZ predominantly sings and chants over the beat with gusto.
TAPZ recently talked about his African heritage to HYPEBEAST, saying, “I want to go back to Zimbabwe to build more than just a movement. I wasn’t raised in the city like most Zimbabweans that migrated. I was a rural kid raised in Wedza, Google that place, you gon’ see. There weren’t any computers or nothing like that there. I want to build schools and help the people there. Music is just the start for me, it’s my voice and as I get bigger it’s gonna get louder. I will shout everything they denied to listen to, they will hear us, this is bigger than me.”
