Solange’s Letter To Her Teenage Self

Unstoppable-creative-powerhouse Solange Knowles has slowly risen to prominence over the years, after working hard and digging deep.

Last year (at the age of 30), Solange released her groundbreaking album ‘A Seat At The Table’, which got her topping US charts for the first time. She wrote and co-produced all the tracks, co-directed the striking visuals, and proved herself as a woman who had come into her own.

Solange recently wrote a letter to her teenage self for Teen Vogue magazine, and it’s a bit of a tear-jerker. She talks about going “the long way”, and enduring many ups and downs to become someone she could be proud of.

She pays tribute to her mother’s work ethic, talks about the many different phases of her life so far, and says, “There will be pain, there will be doubt there will be beauty, there will be the unknown. There will be so many moments of joy and delight that the whole universe will feel painted in hues of amber and wonder. There will be times you are so sad you can’t lift your head... But most importantly, there will be you.”
