Parachute Band alumni Rhys Machell has put out the first song from his solo project, and it’s an ethereal and cinematic soundscape that instantly makes you feel at ease.
Simply titled ‘Sept 7’, the piano-based instrumental slowly adds soaring Juno and layered synths to take you on a journey.
Machell wrote on Instagram, “To be truthful, I’ve been hamstrung by a viciously negative inner voice my entire adult life. These tunes are in many ways, a railing against that. A big finger to self-doubt and raised fist to being true.”
He explained earlier, “There’s so much music out there, but so little I can put on to aid relaxation/mindfulness/exercise/working/caring for sick child/processing/reading/general life etc. That’s what this is all about.”
By the looks of things, Machell is gearing up to release a body of work that will be called ‘In Glass’.
