Paramore Release ‘Fake Happy’ Video

Paramore have released their latest music video: a colourful visual for their achingly honest track ‘Fake Happy’.

Directed by the band’s drummer (and iconic beret wearer) Zac Farro, the video follows frontwoman Hayley Williams running through a crowded city as everyone else around her is covered up by animated upside-down smiley faces. Wearing a Bowie-esque glittery one piece, Williams ends up in what looks like Times Square, eventually turning round to reveal her sombre face in a sea of fake yellow ones.

The song is an upbeat, catchy look at feeling glum that somehow still manages to feel universal, with the lyric, “I feel so fake happy. And I bet everybody here is just as insincere.”

Williams explained to fans on Instagram that the band’s latest album ‘After Laughter’ has, “the type of subject matter I am learning to open up about”, and that during the recording process the band was able to make something that was, “no longer about grieving the past but about honouring it and being able to look forward, boldly again.”
