Montell2099 Brings The Heat With Latest Track

Montell2099 has had a massive year. The producer who originally hails from Kati Kati has quickly shot to acclaim, after being asked to officially remix Lorde’s ‘Green Light’ (with SACHI), and being flown to LA to collaborate with rising Atlanta rapper 21 Savage.

His latest release is a huge track, titled ‘SUSU’ with artwork that pays homage to sci-fi show ‘Stranger Things’. The futuristic instrumental features intergalactic sounding synths, and has gigantic build ups that would perfectly accompany Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’.

It’s bombastic, with sub bass that’ll blow up your speakers if you’re not careful, and rhythms that bounce and swing with prowess. The combo of foley samples with trap beats gives it a unique feel, and the track is unashamedly massive.

Montell2099 recently told VICE that his Grandad got him into producing after he moved in with his grandparents as a teen, saying, "I think I was just on his nerves, so he just wanted to get rid of me. He just put me in front of the computer and opened up FL Studio like ‘muck around on this and leave me alone’. I didn't even know what a snare was, what a kick was, what a hi-hat was. I was finding that stuff out. I made a little sequence—like a real basic beat—and it started from there. It sparked the flame."

He also said his ambition is to buy his Mum a porsche one day. Here’s hoping.
