Wellington band Mermaidens have just released their brand new album ‘Perfect Body’; which is their first release on Flying Nun. Filled with sparkling psych-rock songs, the record is filled with the angsty and infectious energy they’ve come to be known for.
Under The Radar describes the Mermaidens sound as having, “twinkly, reverb-laden guitar lines, rich vocal harmonies and vibrant drums” and they’ve also been described as “pagan Goth” by Noisey.
The eight track album was recorded and mixed by James Goldsmith at Wellington’s Blue Barn Studios, and Mermaidens are now embarking on a bunch of shows around the country to support its release.
On Friday 18 August they play at Christchurch’s Darkroom, on Saturday 19 August they play at Dunedin’s Benessere Studios, on Friday 1 September they’ll play at Auckland’s The Other’s Way Festival, and on Saturday 2 September they’re playing at Wellington’s San Francisco Bath House.
