Malcolm Gordon: 'Thistledown'

South Island troubadour Malcolm Gordon has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help release his new album 'Thistledown', which he describes as a tribute to rediscovering the joy of music.

Ending 2016 burned out and struggling to find creative fulfilment, Gordon retreated to his grandfather's bach to write a bunch of tunes guided only by an old-world checklist:

"The ancient Celts had this saying that music has to do one of three things", Gordon explains in his campaign video, "it has to either make you want to laugh, make you want to dance, or make you want to weep."

The self-professed "recovery album" is in the can and waiting to be distributed, so Gordon has launched a crowdfunding campaign for fans, including perks for backers ranging from his entire back catalogue to bespoke songs.
