Leisure's Worth a Listen

After popping up (seemingly out of nowhere) last year with their lazily infectious internet hit ‘Got It Bad’, Leisure have steadily been growing a solid fanbase.

The five-piece hails from Auckland, and they’re a bit of a supergroup. Members Jaden Parkes, Djeisan Suskov, Jordan Arts, Josh Fountain and Tom Young have all played in a number of bands over the years - from Kids of 88 to Kidz In Space - and are all respected producers in their own right.

The result is a winning combo of relaxed, groovy R&B that HillyDilly calls, “nothing short of excellent”.

Arts explains the communal mode of the band, saying that Leisure is, “a lifestyle, for the people. A mind-frame and vibe perhaps. Our ethos it to keep things leisure at all times, if it doesn’t feel right to us then it probably isn’t leisure.”

And the people seem to be listening; Leisure sold out their Auckland album release show, and then took Wellington by storm a couple of nights later.
