Laneway: Five of the Best

Laneway Festival is returning to Auckland on January 30, at brand-new venue Albert Park. We’ve been perusing the line up, and (after some careful, painstaking consideration) have decided these five acts are definitely worth a gander:

Whimsical music-fairy Aurora is a 20-year-old singer from Norway. She pens beautiful, magically uplifting songs and leaves us feeling all happy inside.

Tame Impala
Are these guys the best thing to come out of Perth? Probably. Returning to Laneway is Kevin Parker’s psychedelic rock project. As those of you who caught their giddying show at Logan Campbell Centre last year know, Tame Impala is not to be missed live.

Nick Murphy (formerly known as Chet Faker)
Having had huge success with his alter-ego Chet Faker, Australian singer Nick Murphy has just released his latest stuff under his real name. It’s much more experimental, with a bit of a Radiohead vibe, and we diggity.

Bob Moses
These guys are an electronic duo from Vancouver, who blend smoky vocals with organic sounds and electronic beats. Billboard calls it an “entrancing combination”.

The Veils
New Zealand’s very own. The Veils recently released a new album with left-field production help from members of Run the Jewels, and have been busily making plans to tour the US. It’ll be good to see these guys again.
