Auckland rapper JessB recently sat down with The Wireless to film a short doco about her inspiration and plans for moving forward.
The young artist explains in the video how playing Netball was originally her main ambition, until a couple of setbacks left her realising that her music could become much more than a hobby.
Over the past couple of years, she’s gone from being a relative unknown to a regular on the local hip hop gig circuit. She’s released a P Money produced single, and was also the first female emcee selected to appear in David Dallas’ ‘64 Bars’ series at Red Bull Studios.
She explained in the doco that she’s been learning to go with the flow and be confident, saying, “Just taking opportunities when they come up, and not being afraid to put yourself out there was probably for me the biggest stepping stone in actually starting to gain some traction.”
She was also recently interviewed in Viva Magazine, and is gearing up to release a two-part EP (also produced by P Money).
