At just 20 years old, electronic pop singer Aurora (real name Aurora Aksnes) has made a major dent on the global musical map.
This year Aurora released her debut album ‘All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend’, toured around the world, and made guest appearances on ‘Conan’ and ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’.
Endorsed by Katy Perry and featured on hit TV show ‘GIRLS’, her brand of whimsical, wide-eyed music explores universal themes of hope and fear; with slightly melancholy lyrics that sit over epically orchestrated synth-pop production.
When asked what inspires her, Aurora explains, “I’m very inspired by nature, and many of my songs involve nature or elements of nature, such in the arrangements of melodies and in the lyrics. I’m very inspired by real people as well, and making up tales like humans becoming werewolves. I have a very vivid imagination that runs wild most of the time.”
Aurora plays live at Laneway this summer, and you can watch the video for her track ‘Runaway’ below.
