Australian electronic group Cut Copy is back, releasing their first single in four years.
The four-piece’s comeback tune ‘Airborne’ is a guitar led disco tune, with jungle drum samples in the vein of Jamie XX.
They’ve stepped away from the 80s synths, but are keeping the bass lines pretty damn funky in this one. The chorus also sounds like they’ve layered up a whole bunch of Bee Gees style vocals, which is a major win.
Initially signed to Australia’s Modular label, Cut Copy are now with New York label Astralwerks. They’ve also announced a bunch of shows throughout Australia and the U.S. to celebrate the release. Let’s hope an album is coming soon.
