French singer and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg has released a new song, and it’s the perfect reminder to relax and take some deep (and elegant) breaths.
Gainsbourg co-wrote ‘Rest’ with Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, which you can hear in the muted disco bass and swirling electric guitar.
In hushed tones, Gainsbourg sings in French, occasionally stopping to whisper lyrics from the classic Christmas song ‘Walking In The Air’.
Gainsbourg has always been perfectly laidback and chic; and as the daughter of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg she’s pretty much a super-human anyway.
This is beautiful and sits in a world of it’s own, and is the first single of her upcoming album (which will also be called ‘Rest’). The album will also feature collaborations with Kiwi Conan Mockasin and Canadian composer Owen Pallett.
